So, I know how to do a 3:2 pulldown with freeware programs...and this spiffy SOny Vegas 7 will do both 3:2 and ....2-3-3-2? 😛 I'll have to look that one up - ANYWAY...

Since my GL2 is locked at 29.97FPS, what can I do to the shutter speed to make the most of the 3:2 process in post?

In my last project, I decided that even 1/60th was too high, and so I went one speed down to 1/30. That gave everything a nicer film quality too it, HOWEVER, because of the increased motion blur and I think because each frame was on a separate FIELD...when I did the 3:2 pulldown...it didn't really look...filmic. Or at least...it was very blurry because it was trying to (i'm only guessing) rebuild an entire frame, drop the opacity, and slap it next to the subsequent frame. So everything moving has this...afterimage. 😉

I think I had better results with 1/60th, but 1/30th allowed for more light and richer images (or so it seemed).

What are your experiences? Shutter speed?

For fast moving scenes I like to use a high shutter speed, if I have enough light I would go for 1/1000, which I find it captures the action smooth and if you need to slow things down it will look smoother. I guess it will depend on your camera as well, but normally for regular shots I use 1/60.
