What is really the advantage of shooting with faster shutter speed? I know it has something to do with the motion, but how does it really affect the overall feel of the shot?
I shot with a 1/300 shutter the other day for a sequence which I am planning to freeze in the editing. I haven?t had the chance to try it out yet.
Btw, I was going to buy I new pc the other day, and one thing led to another - I bought a power mac G5. I am kinda nervous since I have no experience with macs, and I have so little time to get into final cut... But I hope I made the right choice.

Nobody knows what fast shutter speed is good for?

Faster shutter speed basically just means less motion blur. If you want a freeze-frame without blur it's probably a good idea, but I generally stay away from it because it creates a sort of "strobing" effect that makes the image look jittery (especially with a handheld camera).
And congrats on the new Mac! I ended up buying one a year ago so I could use Final Cut and I have no regrets. Even with a complex program like Final Cut, you learn fast.
