Hey in the film i am making i want a characert to be shot whilst running over a bridge and fall into the river below.
The bridge is about 20ft high and i can easily jump (done it before). I don't know how to make it so the character can tumble over the handrail and fall realisticly. I know to do several shots from various angles but it will look really bad if the guy tumbles over head first but then next shot is jumping in feet first
This is not deep enough to dive ?xx(?
Cheers really appreciate your tips from you guys as it really helps me to improve. ???

Well I would do it CGI, but as I see from your last posts your not intrested in that.
You could build a dummy, put the actors clothe on it and put wights on certain spots in the dummy so when it falls it looks realistic.
You could also shoot it like this: Have the actor running and getting shot, then tumbeling of head first (You could do this at a spot at the bridge that isnt that high, and maybe put a matress or something for him to fall on), the next shot would be were you just see the actor flying by the camera real close so you can barley tell wats happening, and then have the actor pretend to have fallen sort of do a landing motion. The camera could be turned so you cant see his head land and maybe add a little head hitting the gournd sound later. And if you want you could have the actor hold a container with blood and spill it so it looks like a hit his head for real.

Hope that helps.

Thanks i'm probaly not going to build a dummy but i might now consider CGI or a mixture of short fast shots. Thanks for your help, you reckon you could help me with my other post. ?:D?

Some other options.

Show the character go over the edge, then the shooter looks over he sees the body floating. Don't show the fall at all.

Safely hang the actor from a rope in your garage. Paint the ceiling above them SFX Green and have them mime a fall. Then shoot upwards at the bridge from a boat or something and composite the two together. Shoot them from the side as well while you're at it and try to composite that.

Secure the camera to a rope and lower it towards the water. Speed up the film in post so that you get a rapid POV plunge. This only really works if the character is alive during the fall.

I would go with the first one. It's easy and it tells what's happening. Unless the guy falling survives you don't really need the details of the fall. Just that they did.

I think i will go with option one as it is much quicker to do than greensceen and will have the desired effect
