Clear corn syrup (Karo is one brand name)
Water
Red food color
Blue food color
Black coffee

Do several tests to find out the mixture you like best - it usually takes only a drop or two of blue per quart. I use black coffee rather than water to thin the syrup and make it more opaque.

Add a little photoflo (from Kodak) so it doesn't bead up as much. But not if you're using it in an actors mouth! Add a little liquid dish washing soap to make it stain less.

Its getting near Halloween time and last October I worked at PartyCity. We sold fake skin. It wasnt rubber. It was a bottle of, pretty much, liquid latex and it was super fast drying. You could pull it and stretch it while it dried and make it wrinkling or saggy and such. You could stretch a small part and put fake blood under it and make a pussy/bloody boil. Hehehe.....ew.... yeah...

Load up man, its almost that time.

Hehe, that's great. Where can you buy it on the net?

The recipe I used:
One bottle Karo Syrup (Pint size?)
One shot Red food color
One drop Blue food color
Teaspoon of condensed milk

The milk changed the color slightly making it appear much more blood like. This combination is also entirely edible but the milk might go bad if its not refridgerated. Staining is a problem.

Well, I was actually inquiring about the latex skin and where anyone could buy it online but no doubt your blood mixture piece de la resistance will come in handy sometime. ?;)?

Oddly enough one of my crew used raw pillsburry dough, stretched out and covered in blood, for a quick shot of skin being ripped off. I wasn't convinced it was gonna work so I shot it both ways but it turned out looking great.

Of course a lot is in the camera angles.

Yeah, I definitely know that. Do you know where I could get raw pillsburry dough though? It doesn't sound too common a product.

My spelling probably helped create some confusion. Perhaps Pillsbury is not in the UK. Basically Pillsbury makes dough that you buy and bake. This is a food product not a movie product. Odds are there are a dozen similar products in the UK.

We used Pillsbury because that's what we had in the cupboard, not because its better or worse than any other brands. I can't tell you the exact one we used, I'm not sure it matters, and this isn't an ad, but here's a link to Pillsbury if you still are confused.

You could probably use standard dough made from scratch if you kept the amount of flour to a minimum.

Anyway you take a small amount and stretch it flat against the skin. Hide the lump where it actually connects with makeup or camera angles. When its pulled free it stretches and looks decent. Especially if combined with blood released at the same time and an anguished scream.
