Okay, so after trying to decide on which DV camera to go for, and reading the numerous posts on this board for which is best, I've finally ordered one - the DVX100a, it arrives friday and I cant wait. Now I just have to save up for a shotgun mic of some kind, a tripod, an anamorphic adaptor to shoot true 16:9 and a video editing software. I have a couple of questions though and would appreciate any help.

1) Can anyone recommend a good shotgun/boom mike and its rough price.

2) What is the best video editing programme for a PC (not Mac) that is compatable with the camera.

Any other tips on the camera would be useful to.

Thanks a lot!

I know there should be a witty or profound comment here, so here goes...Boobies. Thank you.

I got the same camera and really like it. My suggestion would be to buy (a) a fig rig if you intend to do a lot of moving camera stuff or (b) a really good tripod if you expect a stable camera with pans and tilts.

i have the same camera, and bought a fig-rig. i couldn't be happier with the results. you can get some terrific shots, and you'll be amazed at how good it looks once you see your footage on a television.

for a mic, we bought the AT-857, and we're fairly satisfied with it. we hooked it up to a minidisc player to record sound.

as for editing software, i use premier pro 1.5. it's satisfactory, but not fairly intuitive, and i'm wondering about 'VEGAS' and if it would be a suitable replacement. (even though it costs about 1/6 the price)

I have that same raskel and I love it, the only thing I don't like is that it is hard to hold, I made some rigs that help a lot, take a look.

Here is one more, I made quite a fue you can see in the behind the scenes and gallery of my site, if you need something for a shot and can't come up with a rig, let me know I love to make new ones, just for fun.
