Okay titles going to be Intimidated and out numbered it?s a domestic drama so just to give you a little idea of what the narratives about I?ll give you my synopsis of the drama.

The Carlings, the new family on the estate get a very special welcome from the violent residents. It?s not easy being the odd ones out, especially when your only social skills consists of raw aggression and ruthless violence.

So to set the scene. There?s been growing tension between the new family and the local youth, which leads to a confrontation that the local youth don?t favor. A group of local girls go to the new families house to see Mark (The oldest of Ann?s children. Ann being their mother who is a single parent of five.) who is my main protagonist, to try and resolve the issues going on with their peers. Now were getting to the scene in question, he welcomes them in to their home where the three girls are sitting on the settee together. One girl leaves the room to use the toilet, not knowing that Kirstie (The oldest daughter) is taking a bath. The girl who walks in on her screams and runs down the stairs and in to the living room where the other two girls are still sitting. She then replies ?She, She, She?s naked? which leads me to the scene where I need two of the girls to laugh with hysterics. Which will be hard to say the least. Which is why I intend to film it like Rizzo says. ?I think what Cleary means is he will set up the shot and have the actors chilling on set in the positions he wants. Then all relaxed he'll turn on the camera, and make em laugh.?. If you get me? Cleary.

But how do you plan on getting them to laugh hysterically? Just sit and tell them jokes? Have them smoke a bowl? Strip down to your skivvies and dance with a stuffed hippo?

I say give them a joint, then dance with the hippo. Its a winning combo.

That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough! I'm going to clown college!

Even when working with trained actors, good directing includes a lot more than just "you two laugh".

Think of school pictures. A good photographer will use tricks like telling a joke to invoke a real smile. In the context of the photo shoot, you're laughing because of the joke he told. But in the final product, Auntie Edna thinks you're smiling because you're a happy little boy.

The same is true of dealing with actors. If you want to get an expression of surprise, you can't just ask for it (you'll get an actor ACTING surprised, which is clearly fake). To get a good expression, you really need to shock the actor.

I read an example recently where a student was instructed to sneak across the room. So he tiptoed Hamburglar-style. Then he was told to walk across the room without making a sound. This created the perfect "sneak", although he didn't know he was sneaking.

Set your girls up, get them relaxed, tell some jokes, dance like a monkey, whatever you have to do to get them to laugh...
