Here's a bit of specific information for working on your own projects, with a pretty extreme example of image manipulation that in my mind saves the scene (from KERBEROS - a digital feature shot on the EX1)

I feel the use of these processes is so vital to our filmmaking that it goes beyond post production and can inform our decisions on many steps in the planning, filming, and delivery.

If it helps, then feel free to repost, link, quote... knowledge belongs to those who can grasp it...

I hope it helps!

That is some nice looking footage. I haven't had much opportunity to shoot with the EX1, but when I have shot with it I've gotten some really great images.

There's some very nice depth of field in the Kerberos trailer--did you use a lens adapter?

I've really fallen in love with Apple Color for grading. The interface is scary at first, but it really is quite intuitive once you become familiar with it. Plus, round-tripping from Final Cut is incredibly easy.

Thanks for the props!

No lens adapter - mostly a function of the staging.

Apple Color looks great! - Just started to investigate it. I think I've stuck with AFX at this stage because even something that seems like 'normal' color correction is using so many animated masks, etc..., and of course I can do my compsoiting and fx work at the same time. I am really looking forward to getting into the program though - looks powerful

Yeah, very nice looking shots and lighting Kely. Did you change the EX1 aspect ratio in camera? Or tape up a monitor for framing? Was it 1:85?

I don't tape the monitor - when framing, i can make the adjustment by eye and when I have someone else on camera, I tell them to frame based on the picture safe giudes on the monitor (letter box will be a little more cropped than that but it's a pretty good guide. I go for 2:40:1 letterbox - done in post. I like the ability to reframe the image for best effect in post - matching eyelines, etc... to best tell the story.

exellent looking picture.

kely, what is your opinion on lens adaptors?
worth the trouble?
i am a young filmmaker (16) gradually increasing my equipment, i currently have a panasonicAGDVC20 with a shotgun mic and boom,
it shoots on mini dv, but looks alright.
im thinking a lens adaptor should be the next thing to try to tackle, when i get the cash.
what do you think? anything i should get before that?
