go to bhphoto.com and search their prosumer cameras. I believe the cheapest out there is the sony trv 950, which should come in just under 2k. I understand there's a panasonic 3 ccd camera out there even cheaper (no, not the dvx100). Just search the web, but look to dish out at least 2k, and much higher for better cameras.

If you go to eBay, you can find Canon Xl1s for under 2k, you can find them for about $1,500 it's a great deal and some of them are brand new. That's pretty cheap if you ask me.

No way! I bought a Panasonic PVGS70 which is 3CCD for $900 brand new. Go to the BH website or you can find it at Circuit city for 1000 (they'll meet or beat any price by 10% plus you get a free tripod and bag so I got mine there). I bought that camera a week ago.

I've never seen a legit Canon Xl1s on ebay for anywhere under $3000, unless of course all you get is the body with no accessories and no lenses. Don't be fooled by those listed on ebay. Just because they have the pic of the full blown camera, it doesn't mean it comes with that. Seriously, nobody is going to sell and XL1s for $1500.

i think he meant XL1 plural not XL1S. I have seen legit XL1's for under 2500 on ebay. and GL1's with really good accessory packages for 1300-1600. My friend just bought a VX1000 for 1200 on ebay.
