What are some tips to get the best possible sound without spending much money? By not much money, I mean basically nothing...I have a couple of friends who record some music, but I'm still not sure if they can lend any mics, so are there any real cheap alternatives to get the best possible sound? Most of my scenes are indoor dialogue driven. There's only two outdoor scenes that are short and I was wondering what kinda help you guys could give. Thanks

One option might be to get cheap 'tie-clip' mikes and see if they can pick up decent sound. Of course you'll have to be careful with the wires and mix them from multiple people into two tracks.

The downside is that they can sound quite different to traditional shotgun mikes.

depends on what you mean. bad souns isnt like bad picture, that can be mistaken for artsy. if you are editing digitally i'd say as far cheap you can get a digital 4 track for about 500 at a music supply website like ?url?www.musiciansfriend.com?/url? some got to smart card, some burn to cd, which is easy for editing. In truth i'd urge you to skimp somewhere else and pay good money on good sound equipment.

Yeah...I know I'll need to spend money...but I honestly don't have it to spend. I have friends that are into recording music...And I wanna see if one of them has a shotgun mike or something we could possibly borrow. We don't really the money to buy anything new...and I definitely want good sound in this piece. I just wanted to see if there was any possible solutions I may have missed. Thanks.
