Chair Rig - I am working on a commercial for an office chair. The concept consists of a lot of turning and one specific shot has a person centered while others come from behind on both sides in their chairs. Within this shot all the chairs need to have even gliding to their acquired direction. Does anyone have any ideas on how to rig the chairs for these shots? or know any kind of techniques that may apply?

Hi Jessakida, please don't post the same question in more then one place. (most people check all of them anyway)

For your chair ad I dont really understand what you are trying to do so I dont know how to help. I terms of the chairs gliding then you could get someone to tie soem rope around the base and pull it, presuming the floor isnt showing in the shot. If you mean you can't get them to move in at the same time then maybe you could film them individually then put them together in post - This though seems like making your job difficult, just try the rope thing or test a few other techniques.

Could you please try and re-explain it (sorry my fault not yours!!) so i can understand what you are trying to do then i could maybe help you.

Thanks for your response. Yes the chairs need to glide. There is two different types of shots through out the commercial basically that I need help with. The first one is the office chair turning around and simultaneously going down to the next chair, tp the next chair and so on (almost like a wave). The need to turn at a 180 degree angle. I need to turn the chairs around with the people in them in a way thats natural so the camera doesnt see.
The next when starts with one chair in the middle and simultaneously 4 chairs glide from behind that one chair (2 going one way and vice versa) almost forming a " v " formation. These have to glide and stop at the same time.

Thanks again and hope you can help!

floor is visible. also, in the first scenario, where the chairs turn at 180 degrees, the actual seats turn from a base not wheels.
