How does everyone feel on the Canon XL-H1. I know it does not do TRUE 1080p. But according to Sony, the human eye cannot tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p. SO im not worried about that until those prices come down on the high high end cameras. What do you guys think about the quality of the picture that it produces with good lighting, etc. This would be used for feature film making. Comments, concerns, I wanna KNOW how you guys feel about this camera!

I might be 18 **(just turned 19 April 4th)**, but watch out, everyone has to start somewhere. I'm just starting a bit faster and bigger. 🙂

I used it and wasn't terrible impressed. As usual with the Canon cameras the stock lens isn't very good but that's a minor problem - good lenses can be rented. I've never liked their "frame mode" either. I was hoping they would do true progressive with their HDV camera. I like that they included a HD/SD SDI output and XLR mic inputs.

The quality of the picture is great but I really don't like the HVD compression. I have nothing but problems when it comes to post work - color correction is particularly annoying. For die hard Canon users this is going to be their choice. For the price there are better cameras available - in my opinion.

ok, englighten me. I am really sort of naive when it comes to cameras. I know the specs, but i dont have the experience. And yes, i Really do like the HD-SDI, I plan to be eventually completely uncompressed in my workflow using Aja. What other options are there around that price, not to much more, cant afford that much more. Im buying two, so yea, lots of money. :-/

The JVC GY-HD200U is pretty impressive.

I have a Canon GL2 right now. Canon has great picture quality. But JVC has some nice stuff too. The JVC is a little less expensive than the Canon as well.

I used a JVC GY-HD200U for a few hours today and was very impressed. Its sub 10k (barely) but you will really get what you pay for. If only i could afford one!

It's the camera I own. After testing 10 cameras it is the best one for me.
