I want to make several candy glass shot glasses. I'm curious about how I would go about making molds of a shot glass I have. I figure I would make a mold of the exterior shape and a mold of the interior. Then I would fill the mold with candy glass partially and then insert the inner mold and let cool. What materals do you suggest I use for making the molds. I want to use a material that wont damage the real shot glass if possible. Thanks for any help.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi there,
I did read your post last week! I tried to think of something
to say, but I couldn't really help you out on that one! I don't
know much about mold making. Sorry ?:(?
Didn't want you to think we were all just ignoring you..that's
just a tough question ?:D?

This site: http://www.angelfire.com/movies/nobudgetsfx/bottle.html has a page on breakaway bottles, recommending a silicone mold, and also noting that an easier (yet still difficult) method would be to use thermoplastic resin rather than candy glass.
I would think that, beyond making a mold, the difficult part of making breakaway props out of candy glass (especially something as small as a shot glass) would be keeping the bubbles out of it (I've made a few panes of glass, and when I first pour it out it's extremely frothy)

Thanks elvismay for reading the post. Also agingeri thanks for the information you posted. That gives me some direction as to how I might go about doing this.
I just thought of one other thing. If I tried making a silicon mold, do you know if there is some kind of special silicon I need to get for that? Or do you think I could just buy a tube (or two) of silicon caulk?
