I'm buying a cam so that i can make student films for school and to help get into a better school. I'm also needing it to shoot local band's live shows to make money on the side. I'm looking at the JVC GR-HD1 mainly. Is this a cam some of you pro. and indie filmmahers would recommend or should i go with a 3 CCD cam. What are the common probs with the JVC.

I have almost always used JVC cameras. I used the GY-DV5000 on many features. The GR-HD1 is not a good camera. However, their new one, the HD100U ?url? http://pro.jvc.com/prof/Attributes/features.jsp?feature_id=01&tree=&itempath=&model_id=MDL101539?/url? is a great camera. I just finished a feature shot with that camera.

The new HD cam mentioned above is supposed to be good but you need to keep in mind that it is only 1 CCD not 3CCD. Color Quality will not be nearly as good as the 3 CCD Cameras. Personally, I have two Sony VX 2100's and love them.
