Okay, I'm VERY new to this whole film-making thing, and I need some effects help.
I want a guy to come into a room, shoot up a guy with an automatic (something like an old-fashioned tommygun), and have the gun-blasts visible. Then have the guy, pressed up against a wall, slide down draggin blood along the wall as he collapses.

So, I was wondering, how do I get that done?
I know, I know, I could use small blood-packets and minute explosions, but I don't exactly have any budget, and being a teenager, any way to obtain explosives. And I need something that won't permantly mark the walls too.
Might sound liek a stretch, but I'd really like some no-budget help.
Thanks!

It's going to be difficult if you want multiple bullet hits.

The cheap way to do blood spurts is with a pressurised container and a hose rigged up to the actor. Then when they're 'hit' you just release the pressure and the blood spurts out. But that really only works for one hit.

If you just want bullet hits, one way is to dress some bullet holes in the actor, then cover them with wax and attach very thin lines to the wax so that someone off-screen can pull them off as the bullets 'hit' them. I forget which movie I saw which said they did that in the commentary track, but it worked well for them.

As for muzzle-flash, I'd just put them in afterwards in the edit. If you're careful with angles you can do a pretty good job with fake flashes and maybe tweaking the color in the frames where they're shown (e.g. make it more yellow for a frame). Equally, don't forget that you can get convincing blood spurts and wounds out of a CGI program these days, if you put some time into it.

I believe you can also get air-guns that fire wax (?) pellets that smash on walls, and use those to simulate bullet hits there: they shouldn't harm the walls, but the bits of the pellet after it breaks up look like debris from a hit.

Ah, here's one page about cheap blood splurts off google:
