I would like a safe way to have a fire w/out actually burning down the building. I was thinking of having lots of smoke and a yellow light or two dimming back and forth to make it look like fire is glowing in the background. If anyone knows an even better way or has any suggestions to add to my idea, it would be appreciated.

oooooooo fire scenes. Ive done a few shots like this.
Yes i do use lots of smoke and red or yellow lights. But whats also good is to at least start a few small, controlled fires int the foreground.
