I'm shooting with a Sony DCR TRV Handycam 8, old cheapy.

Anyways, can someone confirm if these lavalier microphones would be useful for me or not, and if they're compatible with my camera?

Reason im asking is because they are super cheap, and I need cheap lavalier like mics.

Anyways, shouldn't I be able to plug it in, and have the sound recorded from it onto my camera?

The bad news about those tie clip mics is they must be about an inch or less from the speakers mouth in order to pick up decent sound. Otherwise they will pick up a lot of ambient sound. They aren't sensitive enough to pick up good sound if hidden under the clothes. And the bad news about that camera is it doesn't have a mic input.

A lavalier mic isn't of much use unless it's wireless. That tie clip mic will need a very long extension cable to run from your actor all the way to the camera
