hello everyone,
This is my first time on the boards. I just have a question about a possible problem. Not sure yet...
So I shot with an Arriflex BL 16mm and when I opened the camera body to after I took off the magazine, the pressure plate was open. Now just prior to that I'd been fooling around and stupidly changed framerates while shooting which caused a noise in the camera body .... I was just wasting some film at the time so I could hurry up, unload and ship out for processing. I dunno if that might have been the sound of the pressure plate coming undone, but the camera ran smoothly throughout the shoot.
The question is this. Does anyone think
1. the pressure plate might have come out durring shooting or at the end when I changed framerates while the camera was running?
2. Will this affect the image considerably? I know it does for a Bolex.
I'd kind of like to know if I'm screwed before i process so I can start scheduling a reshoot. This is just for my Film II final project.
Thanks for anyone who can help!
A quote from another site:
The Pressure Plate. One of the more common problems in loading the Bolex is the rather pesky Pressure Plate. If it is disengaged the film will not be held in place and the image will jiggle and be out of focus. If you are lucky, and are shooting out-of-doors, an f-stop of 8 or better will often make up for the film being off the film plane, but rather than rely on luck it is better to check the pressure plate before closing up the camera.
I have a feeling you won't like this answer.
