I was discussing this with an associate tonight, and we're still unclear on this. On cameras like the AG-DVX100, with 24p shooting, does the camera shoot in 24 p, and then in realtime convert it to 29.97?
If so, is there a way to NOT have it convert it and do it manualy in FCP?
And if not, do you have to convert it manually before putting it on a DVD so as to avoid interlace problems?
Look up the process called 3:2 pulldown and it will answer your 24p question. In FCP you can make it into true 24p for editing purposes but anything that is put back onto tape will be converted back to 29.97 using 3:2 pulldown to fill up the extra frames of video.
What? $1000!! That's crazy talk!!
