...do you use?

At the moment I am using Celtx, but as for my technique I am really a newbie and all I am doing is pumping out 3-4 pages a day, but if I am really pumped up about it and concentrated I can get out 6-7 pages.

Just wondering what you guys do to help you through the process.?:I?

Final Draft, but Celtx looks pretty good for the price (i.e. free :)). The best book I've read about the process of screenwriting is Robert McKee's 'Story', which is more about how to plan out the story than the details of formatting or whatever.

I use Final Draft 7.

When the script writing is done, the work has just begun. When the filming is done, the work has just begun. When post-production is done, the work has just begun. When the distribution is done, you decide if the work is done.

I write everything on paper first and then revise on paper, once I think its down to grammatical issues and formatting, i put it on FD7.

Celtx.

Although it would be better if it imported into Microsoft Word instead of Notepad. For some reason Word's a more socially acceptable program...

I use a generic text editor and write up scenes and notes at work (Solaris system), or at home. Then when I've got the basic story I copy it all into MovieMagic Screenwriter and make sure it's formatted correctly and ends up the length I expected. After that the screenplay stays in MovieMagic.

I'm using NeoOffice. While we're on the subject, is there any simple, good scriptwriting freeware for Mac?

As for your question, Micah, I hope you don't mean that you hope new software wil help you write better. It won't. A director could have the best new and shiny Panavisons avaliable but still make a crappy movie. Maybe that's not what you asked, but it seemed like it. ?:)?

If you're doing 3-4 pages a day, that's pretty impressive! ?:D? I have a hard time concentrating, but my brainstorms come to me at random spurts, usually in the evening/night, although sometimes, I get ideas in the middle of the day. One thing I do is listen to music and that sort of lets the brain juices flow. For example, if I'm listening to Rammstein or something, I get ideas for really cool action scenes.

Hope all goes well with your writing, Micah!?8D?

No, I didn't think it could help me but thanks for posting that anyways.?:D?

But yeah the Rammstein and some Rob Zombie really really get my brain goin', and those bands really help when you are writing a splatter film like I am.?:D? I always carry around this notebook with me in my car or something so I can write these things down when I get them.
