Does anyone know of a way to transfer from a Digital 8 Camcorder to PC, other than via Firewire? Is it possible to you the DV in/out on the camera to transfer the video for editing?

Thanks,

Valrick

Well, 'dv in/out' probably is Firewire: the thing is, if I remember correctly, Firewire as a name is trademarked by Apple, so companies have to pay a fee to use the name, whereas anyone can put an IEEE-1394 connector (or, in Sony's case, iLink) on their system, which is essentially identical. Any IEEE-1394 device should work with a Firewire or iLink device, and vice-versa.

You can also get adapters that you can plug into your firewire port that will allow you to connect up to scarts if your cam doesnt have firewire capabilities.

Obviuosly you wouldnt be able to control the camera from your PC but you could atleast bang it all on ready to edit.

Changed due to popular demand!!!
