???tell me on a scale from 1 to 10, how funny this is:???
A movie about 2 potheads on a search for weed because one of them lost the stash in the toilet, while he was using it. they decide to go to their friend's house, who also is the person they buy weed from, and ask if he will give them some free weed because both of them are broke. they encounter their friend's brother, and a comic book geek on the way, and eventually descover that their dealer is going to rehab. and the whole time one of the main characters is calling the other one a dog f**ker, and discussing meaningless topics such as whats the worst thing they each would do to get some weed, the weed god and it's mythology, and if the predator off of the Predator movie is a jamacan pothead(because of the dreadlocks).?:D?
It think it would depend a lot on the actors. If you write it well and have good comedy actors it might be pretty funny, but with bad actors or weak writing it would probably be a bit naff 🙂
Based on this pitch I'm afraid I'd give it a 1.
Nothing in your pitch made me laugh - nor did it make me want to see the movie.

Well could you give any suggestions CI?
i think the problem is that 'weed' movies, just like weed stories, are usually only funny to the people that were there.

A pitch should hit the highlights - the points that would make someone want to see the movie.
As Mark mentioned; it could be funny if well written and acted, but this pitch doesn't read funny. One character calling another a "dog f**ker" might be hilarious - but the way you write it here, it isn?t. The two guys discussing meaningless topics might be funny, but the way you write it here is sounds like a borefest filled with ?pothead? clichés.
I guess ?Clerks? could be pitched as a couple of losers sitting around a convenience store talking about relationships, movies and comics. But that doesn?t come off as funny.
So my suggestion would be to make the pitch funny. Give us readers a little taste of your comic writing ability.

well actually I'm not the writer, I'm the camera operator/director of photography, I just wanted to see what other people's opinion's of the film were.
There's not the much to say about it, I think it was funny, but I wrote the script so of course I think it's funny. Let's see if the writer can do a better pitch.
Two teenagers, around eighteen, both potheads one the laid back pothead the other the active pothead always having weird ideas and what not. Now the movie starts out with Ryan waking up at nine when usually waking up at twelve, but the alarm clock *ed up so here he is up at nine, now a little into the movie Scott shows up and they chat for a little about women and hot ass secretaries in which they would like to *. Now the tension begins to evolve around the two when Ryan finds out that Scott dropped the stash of weed into the toilet, swerving it in with his so called "shit", now the toilet clogged up and shot up at him, but now the weed is all shitty.
And that's only a summary of the beginning, if you guys would like to read the script just email me, and ill send it to you.
I think the main thing is that the general rule in movies is 'show, don't tell'. People like Alex Cox and Tarantino can get away with dialog-heavy movies, but it takes a lot of hard work to make the dialog interesting enough to compensate for the lack of action on-screen: so if you can do that well, it should be funny, if not then it may bore people pretty quickly.
unless you guys are really, really good, and have a lot of confidence in yourselves.... this project might not work out too great.

oh trust me, we are, and we will be.
alright. just don't suck.
keep in mind that the general rule of comedy is that its only funny when bad stuff happens to smart people with dignity. idiots acting like idiots isn't particularly funny.
i'm not sure about the exact specifics of your script, but instead of it being two stoners, what about two ivy-league upper-class guys that get high and have all that stuff happen to them?

You know, that's not a bad idea :).
well forget everything we've discussed here, the writer has decided to rewrite the script and make it better. lol. all that discussion for nothing...
