Hi,
I was wondering; do any of you know production companies that might accept spec scripts without the need of an agent?
Thing is, I've been Googling a lot recently, but the results I get are only about competitions, format guides and articles.
Very few prodCo's will read an ?unsolicited? screenplay.
Meaning a script not sent to them by an agent, lawyer or someone
known to them personally. Legal reasons prevent companies from
accepting or even looking at material submitted without their express
permission or a pre-existing working relationship. At best, your
script will be returned to you unopened, or thrown away. At worst,
you'll be put on the company's blacklist and never allowed to
submit anything again. Just send a query letter... if they want to
read your script, they'll ask for it.

True; even I'm wary of reading other people's scripts these days as I've seen a number of ideas going around that are similar to scripts I've written.
I see.
Well, which of the agencies would you recommend?
The top five are the best - and hardest to get into. I would
recommend you send queries to all the agencies. Well, all
the legit agencies.
The way you tell if an agency is legit is 1) they don't advertise
on search engines and 2) they don't charge anything, anytime.
Pick up a copy of the Hollywood Representation Directory or
buy an on line subscription for names and addresses. I think
I can safely say that all the agencies listed in that book are legit.
How many finished, polished script do you have?
