I have a Panasonic GS-70 (the new ultracompact 3CCD camcorder). I was wondering how i could check sound levels if i was to use a boom mic? I know that on the XL-1 and the GL-2 there is a separate thin ong the camera itself, but im sure my camera doesn't have what those two do. Can anyone help me? -dean
Using headphones is the easiest way I know to check levels. Adjusting them in another thing. Since the camera you are using does not have balanced (XLR) inputs and there is a good chance your boom mic does, something like the XLR-PRO might come in handy.
Sign Video makes the XLR-PRO, also BeachTek makes a similar product. Both give you balanced inputs and level adjustment controls.
