I'm making a western movie and wonder if I can modify the sound of things...for example...add the sound of gunfire and make plastic poker chips sound like metal hitting a table (this may include removing the plastic sound of the chips hitting the table)? I'm editing it on a Mac computer with final cut express.

Don't know about Final Cut Express, but yes, usually it's easy to mix different sound tracks together. Most editing programs allow you to use multiple audio tracks and control the relative volume.

I am very familiar with Final Cut Express. Yes, you can do all of those things!
