Hey,
I?m in pre-production for a short film that will be filmed in a few weeks. Almost everything is done, we only need one more crewmember and might have that taken care of in a couple days, we pretty much have the cast set up, and are almost ready in every other way.
One problem. In the script it calls for a few minute scene with a cop. This is the only role we haven?t filled yet, but that?s not the problem. The question is where can I get a good cop uniform cheap?
Plus, is there any legal implication when referring to the police? I don?t need to have it cleared or anything, do I?
Thanks for the help.

For my film, it just happened to be in early October, so I bought a cop costume at a halloween store for a resonably cheap price. It is also easy to make a "believable" costume from stuff you might already have. Just take a pair of black dress pants, a light blue dress shirt with a black tie, and a black leather belt with a holster and cap gun you can find at a dollar store, and a 2 way radio, plus a pair of sunglasses.
Pretty simple eh? ?8D?
As of laws, I an not really sure.?V?

Thanks. Oddly enough, I hadn?t really thought about making a uniform. Hmm. The cops around here actually wear black shirts, but the idea is the same.
Add on top of that, that this is a comedy; I could probably easily get away with having the uniform look cheap.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Ya, I guess cops from Canada would naturally wear different stuff than American cops.

Yeah, I'd either rent/buy a costume or just make one yourself. Just be sure not to get arrested for impersonating a police officer. Good luck, be sure to keep us informed with how the shoot goes.
Actually, I was supposed to start shooting here within a couple weeks, but?well?I?m having problems locating my actor who is set to play the cop right now. I know that sounds a little funny, but I can?t get a hold of him.
I may need to recast the part, which will be a pain. Plus, another one of my actors is out of the state right now, and I don?t know if he?ll be back in time.
This is becoming a pain.

I don't know about where you are at, but I know in a lot of cities, there are stores that have attire/equipment for cops/security gaurds...an easy purchase of pants, shirt, badge and so on should do it (depending on your budget). For example www.galls.com
Have fun.

i just finished a script that revolves around corruption of police and government. Im going to have like the commisioner wear a suit, and the officers where like tucked in grey shirts with jeans and a holster if there not on duty, if there are, blue or black dress and a collard shirt
