Hi I have started a filnmakers group in Manchester Uk, and would like to hear from anybody interested in sharing/ brainstorming ides.
The aim is to get several people together with various talents, whilst each being able to learn new stuff along the way.

Then maybe work on a group project in the near future.
Is excellent for networking your ideas too.
Even if youre in a different area/country your input/joining would be much warranted as a member. To share your ideas, help on projects, recieve group news and material that were working on.
Also looking for fresh proposals for group projects just to get everybody started.

I myself am trying to work an a 90 min feature, this is just in the treatment stage at the moment.
Also have ideas for a sketch show and sitcom if anybody is interested in joining forces.

The group link is http://filmind.meetup.com/296/?gj=sj3

Best regards, wayne

Om from Brum, sounds good but its a shame that om a bit too far out to get physically involved. I dont mind helping you on here though enit. My initial thought is this, have you worked with a group of people before? cause I have and to be honest I find it frustrating, things are constantly changing and in my own experience I find this frustrating. As working towards a set goal in a group can cause you to loose track of the direction you should be heading in. My biggest advice to you would be to get with like minded people who all have the same vision, otherwise as I say the end result may get distorted. Cleary.

Hi cleary, Thanks for replying. Yes ive worked with a group before when i was at college doing it, and youre right, it is damn frustrating esp when you get someone that doesnt want/need the same things.

I set the group up to get likeminded people together, but that can contribute and want to learn new skills.

Hopefully the group dynamics will work out good as everybody will be on the same wavelength, the ones that arent will probably drop out anyways.

Im working on my own projects, and initially i want the group to work on simple stuff to get everyone involved.

Ive found it hard to get likeminded people together, thats why i started the group.

Also with being the organiser you can actually keep the group more in check.

Hope to hear from you soon and any input you may have. Regards, wayne

No problem Wayne, I check this forum regularly so I tend to post in most of the contris. College is where I've worked with groups of people in the past. Personally I dislike student films, to me they come of as aragent and self pretensions. I suppose there are difference mind in that working with a group of people at college, tends to mean that every one has to have a 100% equal say in the production, as well as having to work to other restrictive standards like the genre and length etc.

What sort of production are you looking at making? Cleary.

Hi cleary, thanks. My own personal projects are a

comedy movie/action/scifi (thats the one with the first treatment part i think you replied on)

Also trying to work on a horror werewolf/movie set in bulgaria. I have bought a house there so have free reign.

The comedy is the one im mainly working on as not to get too distracted.

Im also trying to write a sitcom. Aimed at the age group 20-30s that will be a bit risque in parts.

Also am trying to work on a sketch show.
There are now some quite interesting people joined the group with different talents so we will probably be aiming to work on a collective group project too. The first one is meant to be a basic martial arts instruction. Any ideas are welcomed though. Hope to speak yo you soon pal
