?DREAM ON?
Theme/Premise: Accomplishing your dreams is a reality in life.
Scene 1
Dark to sun rising; birds chirping in the background
A kid is playing basketball out on a court in a residential neighborhood, in between some apartment buildings; houses.
He isn't playing very well: just dribbling and shooting; missing most of the time. He throws the basketball at the ground out of frustration.
The ball bounces off and rolls to a stop by a bench/or pole and stops on a long blue ribbon. The kid, walking around, disappointed walks over to pick up the ball.
He notices the ribbon, and slides it out from under the basketball; looks at it. The ball starts rolling away.
(Child's Laughter) In the background a girl is riding down the path with a similar ribbon in her hair.
The ball is rolling away, so he walks over to get it, but it bounces off the curb and onto the street.
The kid chases the ball as it bounces through traffic, down a road, down some stairs... It finally stops at a door.
He picks the ball up and opens door, only to discover an empty gym with hoops and bleachers. He thinks, "eh, what the heck"
So he puts the ribbon that he's been holding in his pocket and starts dribbling. He starts playing; doing some fancy footwork moves, makes a few baskets while spinning, and so on. During this, the ribbon falls out of his pocket and falls out of view. The kid doesn't notice.
Finally, he makes a basket and turns back around only to discover that there are people in the bleachers, cheering. Apparently, he is on a team and they are left with only a few seconds to go. The score is 98 to 99. There is a shot of some more skillful playing by the team, and the kid makes a basket. The horn blows.
The team rushes toward each other, happy over their victory. The camera pans out of a window, and catches a glimpse of the blue ribbon floating through the wind.
Scene 2
The ribbon finally lands on a 2nd story balcony.
A frustrated girl walks out onto the balcony in some dance costume, and chucks her ballet/dance shoes off the balcony.
Disgruntled, she leans on the rail and notices the blue ribbon. As she picks it up, she observes it, walking back into the room.
Inside, she ties it to her ankle, or outfit, w/ev, and turns on some music.
The girl starts dancing, a little uneasy at first, but soon gets into it. She is dancing some ballet/interpretive dance; in any case it's very hip and rhythmic. (kinda jazzy)
The ribbon slips off her ankle while she is dancing, but she doesn't notice.
She continues on dancing.
Scene 3
The camera follows the ribbon out the balcony and to the first floor, where it gets stuck on a tree branch.
The camera focuses onto the background, where a guy is sitting in his room with a guitar. He is experimenting with some chords.
He notices the blue ribbon. He contemplates some more and soon goes into a guitar solo.
There are various shots of him playing. He closes his eyes and gets into the music.
He is on a stage performing for a small café-like audience. There are various up-close shots of his guitar. He finishes his solo, back in his room, dramatically plucking his last string.
The camera pans out of the through an open window and focuses back onto the tree branch; the ribbon isn't there anymore. There is a shot of it floating around in the background; the camera focuses on it.
Scene 4 ?not developed?
(ribbon blows back to little girl only now she's grown up)
Scene 5
The scene suddenly shifts to a CTA (train) Car.
Four kids are dozing off in midst of morning commute, (the same four kids from before.) The train bumps into the station, and all awake suddenly.
They look at each other surprised and uneasy, and quickly exit the train in different directions.
The train announces "Doors Closing."
Thanks!!
I really like it. You'll have to make sure it's filmed well so you don't lose your audience somewhere in there, as I can see it being really confusing if you don't do it right.

?:)? I like the ending, it sort of brings the story back in reality - not trying to make it 'too big'. It seems on the way as if the ribbon is somehow magical and makes them all succeed in life. Without the ending it'd be very commercial.
It needs a good score.

Lewis was a great man.
And that's so true - We all have the potential but sometimes we need to be inspired by some outside source in order to make our dreams a reality.
Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it 🙂
Good story buddy. It needs a good music like mentioned above and some decent actors. According to the story you have to shoot at least in more than two locations including some public places.
loku
I agree that music could make or break this. If I were you I would go to some local music stores and talk to them about finding a guy who's a really good guitar player.
I agree with you about C.S.Lewis. Everytime I hear that quote, it just rings so true to me.
