I have finally finished writing the story for a short silent film but I want to put it into a screenplay format that is easy for the actors (who are not really actors but friends) to understand. Should I just list the scenes and the actions the actors will take?
For instance how should I format this info:
The movie starts with some aerial shots of a car driving along a road. It then cuts to a wide interior shot from the backseat of the car. A teenage couple are in the car. The guy (driver) is upbeat and rocking out to the radio while the girl (passenger) is reading a newspaper.
Any help would be much appreciated.
How about this:
quote:
EXT. ROAD - DAY
A car speeds down the two lane, desert road.INT. CAR - DAY
JOE (17) is driving, rocking out to the radio, one hand on the wheel, the other arm hanging out the open window. In the passenger sits JOAN (16), reading a newspaper.
Your friends should get the idea of what they're doing in this scene. Then as the director, you can put the camera where ever you want it, use a wide shot and a close up of each or just a wide shot - it's up to you. You can also tell your friends any little bits of business they should be doing.

That sounds like the best plan of attack. Thanks for the advice.
