Hey,
Ive just started production of my newest short-film..
I have run into a point where I need to find locations for specific parts in the film.
Can anyone tell me how or what to look for in location scouting.
I have done a couple short-films before, but nothing this professional, so I have really never have the need to scout.
..any suggestions?

Considerations:
+ Bathroom facilities!
+ Parking. Even a small production could have a half dozen vehicles. You can carpool to minimize this but you should pay attention to the need while scouting.
+ Dressing room/makeup availability? You can change before hand of course but its nice to know that sort of thing may be required.
+ Will enough power be available or will you need generators?
+ Noise? Freeway or train nearby? PLanes fly over often? Wind really bad?
+ Light, I found out the hardway that the hills west of my location caused an hour early sundown. Ouch.
That's off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more.

I have a free location scouting template that you can download here:
http://www.cvisual.com/film-techniques/film-location-scouting-template.asp
It lets you record all the pieces of information I?ve found most useful such as location orientation, power availability, lighting, locality, exterior appearance, and many other items. You can download it as a PDF or a GIF file.
Hope this helps.
