Hello filmmakers,
My name is Kamal and I've been making shorts for a while now. Been mostly a one-man production company.
Now, I'm wading out into the big leagues and working on a feature documentary. I can put in some seed money for the project for small stuff, but I can't really pay my crew, who are willing to do this passion project for free/very low fees.
It does have the potential to make money once released and I'd like to share any income on top of the seed money with the whole crew.
Since I'll be doing the bulk of the work, I'm thinking of a 40/60 split with the crew. If we end up bringing in outside investments, then I'll take their cut out of my 40%.
I'd like to get your feedback on this idea. Yay? Nay? Potential pitfalls? Are there revenue sharing models like this? I searched but couldn't find anything.
Would love to hear any input anyone might have on this.
Thanks in advance,
Kamal
