This might sound kind of stupid, but this is an idea I had for a prehistorical movie:

BACKGROUND:
I was always fascinated with history. Sitting one day in class, watching a video about human evolution and an evidence of a great cultural "explosion" thousands of years ago, presumably unrelated to material evolution of humans, I thought this could be a really cool idea for a movie.

IDEA:
Create a low-expense, average-lenght film about the introduction of Divine Spirit into man and/or contact with extra-terrestrial civilization(s) and the cosequences that follow.
*If such a film already exists, is it well-made?
The only well-known fictional movies of similar type are:
One Million B.C. (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032871/ )
One Million Years B.C. (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060782/ )
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066561/ )
Quest for Fire (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082484/ )
The Clan of the cave Bear (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090848/ )

TITLE:
(undecided yet)

PLOT:
(undecided yet)
A tribe of ancient humans recieves the gift of the Holy Spirit and/or has contact with extra-terrestrial civilization(s). This has far-reaching consequences.
*The extent of a documentary portion of the film has yet to be determined. The movie could be loosely based on a historical account (such as, for example, the discovery of transitory forms of humans between Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons in Spain).

MAIN THEMES:
The introduction of Divine Spirit into humans.
The contact of ancient people with extra-terrestrial civilizations.
*The above 2 themes may be mutually exclusive, but perhaps both could be adressed. If not, the more plausible theme should be adressed.
The following development of culture and religion.
The struggle between animalistic (material) and human (idealistic - good & evil) sides of human personality.
The living of ancient humans (living in anarcho-communistic, militarily democratic societies?) with nature and themselves.
The struggle between Cro-Magnons and the Neanderthals and the its result (battle and material/spiritual mixing).

SETTING:
Cave, mountain, sea/lake/river. (Could be filmable anywhere).

CHARACTERS:
Virtually anyone will do.

APPROACH:
Extremely vivid and frightning scenes of life and death, almost repulsively pictured (lots of blood, death, cruelty and horror! - frightening effect) contrasted with the results of the Divine Spirit in humans (producing comic relief, new awareness, culture, religion, etc. - calming effect).

*If you have similar ideas, or maybe more of them, please write to smvoice?hotmail.com . And ignore the dumb advertisements! ?:D?

If you try for realism it means you're dumping the idea of dinosaurs (which appear in three of hte five movies you list). Without dinosaurs you don't have any real pull so it better be some intriguing stuff if anyone is going to watch prehistoric people grunting around a barren landscape.

Maybe a short rather than a full length picture might work. 2001 kept that sequence down to 20 minutes or so and most people I know still skip over it on DVD.
