Are you taking a class?

I ask because the answer is usually quite different
depending on what your requirements are and what
your personal experience is.

The quick answer is, what goes in a Preproduction
"folder" is everything needed for the production. Do
you need all encompassing answers like "script, budget,
cast list" or do already know those things and need
more specific info? Do you need info from the producers
perspective or from the writers or directors or production
designer or editor or DP's perspective?

And are you desperately in need of a reply because your
assignment for a class is late, or because you start
production on a movie soon and you aren't ready?

im a film director and im goin to start a new film project. i need a list of things that we put in a production folder. The reason y im asking this is bcoz its been 4 years since i did anything in this field n i feel a lil rusty...wud be great if u help out 🙂

Cool. So what have you got in your folder so far? That way I'm not
repeating info you already have. Is this a feature or a short? Is this
a fully paid project or one where people are donating their time?

Also, are you just directing and have a producer doing the rest of
the preproduction work so you only need to be reminded about
what the director needs? Of do you need a list of every, single item
needed for preproduction? I want to help in the most detailed yet
efficient way I can.

One last thing; how desperate are you? Should I just post things off
the top of my head, or do you have time for a very detailed list? One
I'll have to search my records to find.

i would be so grateful to you if u give me a detailed list. i need a list of every, single item
needed for pre-production. im the diector and the producer of the short film. its going to be 60 mins long.

Sorry about that. I kind of figured you were in desperate need of a reply
so would find the info elsewhere when I didn't reply quickly. My mistake.
But we get so many people who post here for a short period of time, get
the info they need and disappear without ever contributing to the
community. But if you still need it, I'll do the research for you and post
what I find here.

When do you plan to shoot this movie?
