I've recently completed several short film scripts ranging from 7 mins to 20 mins (i.e. an elderly couples' murder/suicide pact)and would like to film these as soon as I can.
However, I fear the 7 minute piece (which I also consider my best) may be too short.
Am I wasting my time?
Thoughts and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

no, in my opinion anything over 13-15 minutes is too long for a short. 7 minutes is just about right. hell i like work thats 20 seconds. dont let anything restrict your films.
"your a child" "i'm not a child" "well your an idiot" "i'm not an idiot" ...."then give me the gun"

I believe that the shorter a short is the better. A lot of the short films I see tend to be drug out. My philosophy: If it's dying, kill it.

If nothing else, the shorter it is the more easily it can be fitted into a film festival: for example, the 90 second short I worked on a few years ago got into one festival only a few days before the screening as it was easy for them to find 90 spare seconds to put it in.
my film is 3:36 and has already won 2nd place so shorter the better in my oinion
