Can someone tell me anything about this dv tape- how good of quality is it compared to regular mini dv tapes and anything else:
Also, has anyone heard that sony and panasonic make their cameras with "lubed" heads and non-lubed heads respectively and that if you have a panasonic camera you should only use panasonic tapes because if you use a sony tape it will clog the heads after more and more use? (yes, im serious, i've heard this).
The standard is to pick one brand and stick with it. You're right - each brand has it's own lubrication and changing brands can gum up the video heads - but camera and tape brand isn't an issue.
I use Panasonic tapes exclusively with my JVC. I prefer the DVM63MQ to the DVM63AMQ and they're cheaper. I'm not sure what the $5.50 per tape gets you. If shot over 500 of the cheaper tapes since 1999 and I've had three drop outs.

I'm using Sony tapes in my Panasonic atm (Sony is much cheaper here, and I'm just mucking around). It's been fine, I can do everything I normally would.
