How do you write something that either action or text that will be funny, I am good with wit and making stuff up thats funny on the spot when someone says something to me or something happens, but how in a film can you write or make an action that people will find funny, I might find it funny at the time, but how do you make it appeal to other people, like making a joke funny i suppose if you make it up, how do you make it funny for other people?
the only thing i can say to that is try and recreate the situation which usually fuels your wit in real life. I know exactly what you mean, and after finishing a current project hope to attempt the same, but this is the best way i have thought of. After all the stuff that just happens can really be hilarious, so why try to make something up when you can translate this into film.
do the right thing
general rule:
man wearing funny hat, not funny.
man not knowing he's wearing funny hat, funny.

Things that really make me laugh in a movie is truth. "American Pie" was loved by many people because of its truth and everyone could relate to it. "Napoleon Dynamite" was another example. I agree to use things that actually happen in real life so someone could watch it and say that they went through that themselves.
