Hey guys and girls,
I'm looking for a bridge/multi storey car park to shoot a short film and, so far, we've had problems securing what we thought would be an easy location.
Does anyone know of any free-to-film locations in the U.K?
We're good to go, we just need a place to film.
Any help would be appreciated.
where are you in the UK?
Wolverhampton, West Midlands.
Whats the film about? How many people are involved? I might be able to help if your willing to travel to Kent. Ive PM'd you my email if you would like to discuss this further.
Cheers,
Matt
Hey,
I couldn't see or sent PM's because I haven't posted enough times yet (I'm very new to this forum)
Thank you for getting back to me. Here is the synopsis we're running with:
"Archie is a young man at an emotional cross roads. After years of professional misfires and personal disappointments, he has decided to commit suicide.
Despite being a drastic measure, Archie is determined to give himself a decent send off. This is disrupted when he happens across Meg, a young woman standing on a ledge, looking to jump. Archie is peeved that his thunder has been stolen and begins to bicker with her, mocking her intentions, reasoning and suicidal methods.
However, Archie soon realises that Meg is more determined to actually end it all than he is, causing him to rethink his actions. By talking to Meg, he begins to care about his life and the preservation of someone else???s. Soon, unlikely bond begins to form on the ledge of a building. A bond that can go one-way or the other..."
Basically, we just need a preactical, safe location that the director and crew can use (There is about 8 of us) without paying too much or getting slowed down by too much red tape.
We have written to various councils to ask to use multi storey car parks and bridges and they have either not replied to us or not taken us seriously.
The script and story is very simple and could be shot in a couple of hours. The lack of location is the one thing that's slowing us down.

Hey,
I really like the concept of the film. Ill have a think about some locations if you like. When are you looking to shoot?
The director is aiming for April.
Thanks loads for your help.
Chris
Christopher,
I suggest getting on the telephone. Speak with someone at the councils. Represent yourself with authority and respect for the city, location, etc. Enquire about the fees, mention the low film budgets you have to work with and be prepared to pay a nominal cost for their fee. Utilize information at the Film Council and mention to your location contacts that you have done so. There shouldn't be a hindrance to you if you can manage the small fees. Be prepared to present an insurance certificate which you will most likely need as well.
Feel free to contact me at info?filmbudget.com if you're having continued troubles and I will see if I can help.
Good luck to you, Jack
