Hi folks,

I live in the UK and am looking to shoot a feature film over one year inside studio and some scenes in the park and even in a street.

I must admit I have no knowledge of the film industry insurance, so where can I get filming liability insurance to protect my crew and cast if they suffer accident, injury or cause damage to public property when filming in the street, etc?

Sure apreciate your advice.
kindly

Welcome to filmmaking.net.

I did a search for you using Google. See if any of these links help.

The UK Film Council is a great resource for a filmmaker. A quick search on their
site and I found several more links.

In the UK I used to get my insurance through these guys:

For about 5,000 pounds worth of hardware coverage and a big chunk of liability insurance (million or two, I think) I paid about 300 pounds a year. You'd also need insurance to cover liability to other people working on the movie, whereas I was only paying for covering myself.

You'll have to speak to an insurance agent about this, preferably someone who specializes in film insurance.

You may want to ask him about
1) Comprehensive General Liability insurance;
2) Third party liability insurance;
3) Fire insurance.

If you have staff, you should also apply for Workers Compensation coverage.

Last, but certainly not least, speak to a lawyer about this. The one hour consultation fee can help you avoid an expensive lawsuit.
