My friend and I are interested in making some sort of short film. Neither of us have any sort of experience in movies or film. We just sort of wanted to try something out to see if we were good or if we liked doing the whole film thing. What we need now is a good idea. We've had a few okay ideas, but nothing that we can really do or want to do. It doesn't have to be perfect or anything...we just need something to shoot with a camera. We're looking for something that we can just have fun shooting it with a camera. Does anyone have any good ideas for us? Since we're not quite sure if we're into it, as of now we only have an old (non digital) camera and no budget. But we are very good improvisors and learn quickly. If you could help us, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

your best bet is doing a black & white, silent film with a very simple plot.

something Chaplin/Keaton-esque, like 'city lights', or something like that. you won't have to worry about sound, and b/c the picture is black&white the picture quality won't be too bad.

it'll aslo let you refine your camera and story-telling techniques.

Draw really awful rubish pics, of how you want your film to be realised, the film can only be better than the sketches. A natural success.

I struugle with portentiousness so i'll just kep shtum!
