I have a couple of scenes in my screenplay where the protagonist is in a chat room with a friend. How do I format their "conversation"?
In a screenplay, you are just telling what is being shown on the screen of the computer. So it would go like this...
Action
The computer screen was still, then a message appears reading "messengerguy123456: waz up?".
Something like that. At least I think, because so far, I have not heard of formatting chatroom dialogue. But I could be wrong.

When the script writing is done, the work has just begun. When the filming is done, the work has just begun. When post-production is done, the work has just begun. When the distribution is done, you decide if the work is done.

You should try going to www.imsdb.com and search for "Something's gotta give" and scroll down to page 62. There should be a few good examples there. Or if you know of any other movie that shows on-screen computer chatting, search for that script.
