I assume that these forums last forever and that there are always "lurkers" who can benefit from the posts above and beyond the original authors. 🙂

Probably we are, AM, at least as far as the OP is concerned.
But, as CI pointed out, you never know who else might read this thread and pick up a pointer or two before bad habits start.
That's right, Brian, it's just basic human nature. Even if money isn't the first consideration, everyone needs to have some compelling motivation to respond to another person's request for cooperation.
The professionals know this only too well. People who have proved that they're enthusiastic about their job get hired again and again.
A lot of amateurs, unfortunately, tend to believe that the mere offer of working on a film is enough to stimulate anyone.
im one those "lurker" and have benefited from this post to the point where im headed to Borders to look for Golemans books to read up on so thank you being a lurker has its benefits
If you want to read up on this, try both Goleman's books - "Emotional Intelligence" and "Social Intelligence". That said, you should remember to practice what is preached. I know lots of professionals who preach the virtues of both attributes ... but are perfect examples of people who lack BOTH emotional intelligence AND social intelligence.
In other words, you can read all the books you want, but will you apply their words of wisdom???
