Besides the Sam Raimi car wash method and the finding a producer method. Is there another way to get money for a movie? I am from the US and i know that in other countries there are ways to get government grants. Can i do that here too?

Raimi got Dentists to put up money.

Tarantino got Harvey Kitel interested and once he was involved investment was easy.

I think in the US, there are State and City film commission, these should give out grants.
But grants are always hard to get, getting a producer (or multiple smaller producers who all fund a little bit) would probably be easier.

(Here in New Zealand, we only have a single nationwide film commission, basically every big Indie film has a grant from them. I'm not sure if you know any famous NZ movies but if you can list a couple they would nearly all have a grant from the commission)

But Producers don't necessarily fund a film, it would be a good idea to get a producers anyway to help find funding for the film (among the other jobs a producer has, like helping you get distribution)
