I have written a feature-lenght screenplay which I am really excited about. I also have a lot of talented actors and actresses lined up to audition for roles. I know several talented video editors and cameramen. But I have a problem:
My only camera is a sony handycam MiniDV with a max. res. of 640x480. It is small, shaky, and grainy.
It is obvious I need a new camera. But I don't know of any rental stores near me (Lincoln, NE). SO I have to buy a camera.
Circuit city near me is selling a sony HD 1080i video camera for $509. I will also need a shotgun mic $70. Does anyone know how I could come up with this money, find a rental store, or otherwise solve this problem? Is there any way I could use my upcoming film to get cash?

You know film, you know cameras, get a part-time job at Circuit City selling cameras. They probably have a discount.
Get a job at one of your possible locations to earn money and lock down the location by knowing the people.
Get a credit card and pay for the camera over a few years if you have to.
Contact the camera maker and see if they have any discounts for poor filmmakers or possibly for camera reviewers. Robert Rodriguez found out after he made El Mariachi that Kodack had a program for new filmmakers that would have saved him half his budget on film, better to find out first if there is some loophole (yeah, that's probably why you're asking here in the first place, I know).
