Funding for a Zombie Short

My producer friend from the UK is coming over to produce a zombie (or vampire) short based upon one of my screenplays. We've got nearly everyone lined up (but some of the talent) and financing. How does one go about getting a film short financed? I have 1 contact who may be interested, but not sure how to 'sell' the project to any potential investors. I'm just the writer and my friend has told me not to worry about financing since it's the worry of others, but this is my 'baby' so to speak, since I created the story and the characters. I really want this to happen, as my first
project fell apart when we went into production due to having a non-experienced director (who had lied on his resume stating he had the experience) on board - one who was chronically late, belittled some of the talent, and who, unfortunately, did not practice good hygiene. I don't want this project to fall apart like my 2006/2007 failure and I believe my friend will make it happen, it's just that he states it will take at least $20,000 to do a 25 min. short. ???

If your friend believes that financing is the "worry of others"
and this friend knows the people who will finance your movie, then
your friend is correct. But if your friend doesnt know who those
others are, then do you understand what your friend means? Who
does your friend think is going to worry about financing? Is your
producer friend going to worry about the financing?

Are YOU the person who is going to be selling the project to
investors?

Im just a little confused about what you are asking.

Well, he wants both of us to try to get funding for the project (I didn't find this out until last night). I thought, being the writer, that all I'd need to worry about is the script?

You thought right. And it seems at one point the producer told you not
to worry about financing since it's the worry of others. But now he wants
YOU to find financing as well.

Who has done the full budget. You or the producer?

do small fundrasing projects, think of things you can buy for cheap and sell for profit..like boxes of pizza selling every slice for 2 bucks or so can give you a slight profit if done at a populated place like a school campus or a park...

Investors are great but usually hard to get unless you have a good reputation behind you

you could also get local business's involved...which could be a win for both you and the business...tell them you can advertise there place in the film by having characters eat there or go there...that way you can also get free locations and maybe a bit of money on there side for advertising

i don't know much about putting money together, this is the best i can do

$20,000 for a 25 minute short seems a bit high to me.
