Frame Rates

I really need someone to explain to me what are frame rates and how I should use them when making a film. For example, what is 60i, 30p, and 24p frame (24p with 2:3 and 2:3:3:2, both with 1/48th second shutter speed)rates mean?? lol sorry if i sound like a big newb.

Frame rate, according to the this site's FAQ ?url? http://www.filmmaking.net/faq/answers/faq172.asp?catid=10?/url?) is the "number of single 'frames' of film that are exposed per second." Film is usually shot and projected at 24 frames per second, TV at 30 frames per second. And according to another thread (?url? http://www.filmmaking.net/fnetforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2334&SearchTerms=frame,rate?/url?), the "i" in 60i stands for interlaced.
