Hi,

I have an 11 year old in my film for one day and am struggling with the problems that come with it. She is non-union. Do I need a teacher on set? Do I need to get a work permit for her? The father said if we shoot on week-ends or holidays we don't need a teacher on set? Are there any other contracts I need to have?

Anybody? Help?

Cheerio

On a non union shoot there are no "rules". If the father is willing to let is daughter
work on a set without insurance or teachers or a work permit, you're fine.

Make sure you aren't violating any local laws regarding children and that the
father is on set at all times and all the release forms are signed by him.

You would be well advised to get the father to sign a release form stating that you have his full consent to use his daughter in your production. Other wise you may find that a load of unwanted legal issues arise with regards to your production once it is complete.
