I'm brainstorming a plot for a 5 minute short.
It involves two students and a corrupt English Literature teacher. One of the students cheats and the English Lit teacher takes it out on the wrong student. Not only does he do this, but he punishes him unfairly, causing twice the pain to the innocent student. The story ends when the cheat brings the teacher to justice, however the cheat is still sent to detention by someone else for cheating, despite exposing the corrupt teacher. Does this story idea work? Is it cliched? Could someone suggest a more original scenario?
The idea sounds fine, wot u got to be worried bout is not the idea of the film, but how ur gonna go about showing this film... i think for this kinda film the story could become boring, but maybe if you tried doing it with no talking, like a silent film, it might seem more intriguing to the audience... just a thought!?:D? But there are prob loads more ways of making a simple story exciting but just adding a sound or a colour to the screen or by taking it away!
The way i see it, is for a short film, like a 5 min film, the storyline/plot isnt important, 5/10 min films are not there to prove how good u are at coming up with ideas but to show how a really simple idea that could seem really boring, can suddenly be really interesting!
