Technical question for y'all:

I'm in need of archival film footage for a documentary I'm putting together and found some great stuff at a research center (and it's just what I need). They are able to provide me with a copy of the footage, but asked what my preferred file type is?

Any advice? Thanks!

Only you can answer that question.

You are editing the documentary so you should know what the
file type you will be using is. What are you using for everything
else?

I'd ask them what file types they can give you, if there's a lossless option or anything like that, definitely go that route. If you're compressing a compressed file in the end that'll be bad news.
