Hey all, I just had a quick question on a legal issue. I know that since time immemorial, artists have immortalized assholes in their mediums, forever preserving the jerkitude of their subjects. For example, Michaelangelo depicted Monsignor Martinelli as King of the Underworld on his tableaus at the Sistine Chapel for criticizing his work.
Regardless, as an aspiring filmmaker, I know of somebody so vile, so selfish, that words and stories and lengthy explanations can not do it justice. Suffice it to say that where this person goes, destruction follows. Furthermore, I can prove it.
I want to immortalize this person for all time in a film. The film itself and its story and characters would be fictional, or at the very least, amalgams of actual people and events -- save for this person, to whom I would give the dishonour of being a verbatim reproduction of their actual selves.
As far as I know, this isn't in violation of any defamation laws here in Canada. The law provides justification as an absolute defence (ie: if it is true, it is not defamatory.) However, I was wondering if their were any other issues to which I was not aware.
And if any of you seek to pontificate to me on the naughtiness of doing such a thing, let me say this -- stealing from a cancer patient (to which they are related) is only one of the many things they've done. I can think of no punishment more deserved than immortality.
Any opinions? Suggestions?
