Hi! Here are four feature film story concepts I've been playing around with. I tried to write them down as shortly as possible, just trying to bring up the absolute essentials. Trying to define both the internal and external conflict of the characters, and the "high concept" of the stories.
I just want to know if these story ideas are at all interesting and appealing? Would you be interested to see films based on these concepts, if the films (and scripts) would be executed well enough?
The titles of the stories are just temporary, they are just work-in-progress titles. Here are the concepts:
THE OLD MAN (scifi)
A cynical, old, dying man has been rejected and abandoned by his daughter, who hates him for his past sins. The daughter is in debt for sinister space aliens, who offer a deal for the old man: If he finds and brings his long-lost daughter to them, they will grant him his youth and life again.
THE LADY IN THE MIRROR (horror)
A woman has lost her beloved twin sister. Lonely and depressed, she finds an old, big magic mirror. Woman?s reflection in the mirror has a mind of its own, and it becomes her only friend. The woman helps her reflection to leave the mirror world and to enter the real world. But things turn sinister when the mirror image wants to take over the woman?s life and it tries to capture her into the mirror instead.
THE JUDAS (Scifi)
A kind-spirited, non-violent, human-like android is hunted down by a society which has deemed androids illegal. Once he is captured, he is given an offer: If he finds and kills the few remaining androids, his mind will be transferred to a human body, therefore making him human. But in order to become a human he will have to kill innocent androids, some of whom are his friends and loved ones.
I, MONSTER (Scifi)
A soldier kills an enemy leader. Before anyone notices the murder, he realizes that he killed someone good and important. The soldier has been fighting for the wrong side, committing terrible crimes in the process. Out of guilt he alters himself physically and mentally to become the man he killed. Because only that man is in a position to set things right. Unfortunately in order to set things right he has to destroy the side he used to work for ? Including people who were his friends and family. As a result he starts losing his identity - and his mind. And the friends and family of the man whose identity he has taken start suspecting he is not the one he claims to be.
You have some really good ideas. They would be very challenging to make. The Old Man seems like it would play like a 80s B-movie. The Lady in the Mirror reminds too much of a movie I saw several years ago. I don't remember what it was called but I'll give you the title if I happen to remember it. The Judas reminds me of the movie I Robot. Also, if the android is really kind-spirited like you say, then he would never consider taking the offer. If he did, then the audience would lose all sympathy for him which would kill the movie. On top of that, I find it hard to believe that the humans would be sincere in keeping their end of the offer. Your idea for Monster is really fasinating. I like it a lot. I think it could work. My only question is how is he able to look exactly like the person he pretends to be without anyone catching on the first moment they see him? Also, you need to change the title because there is already a movie with that title.
Opps, I didn't see that it is actually call I, Monster. You should still change it though.
