I am trying to find locations for my film www.aviationcafe.net/doubleedgedsword.htm and i got a quote just for using a public forest of ?1500 per day ?:(? Surely theres a cheaper way of doing my low budget film?
I am trying to get an army scene which would take 1 day.
Thanks?:)?
I just got done shooting a scene for a war film in a forest. I used a high school's campus in the summer. No one was there, and I asked them before the summer if I could use their campus to shoot a film. They said yes and I shot the scene I needed. Try going around some high schools and asking some. But hurry up before summer starts, otherwise, there will be about nobody to ask.

When the script writing is done, the work has just begun. When the filming is done, the work has just begun. When post-production is done, the work has just begun. When the distribution is done, you decide if the work is done.

Thanks for the quick reply ?:)? I will have a look on Google to see if there are schools around here with large woodlands, i thenm hope to film in the middle of London which i hope won't be a problem as it is public land unless i'm mistaken and that there is a huge area of red tape, if someone could let me know about that side aswell, that would be great as i am new to all this?:)?
I worked on a fantasy movie some years ago where the director just talked nicely to the local council; once they knew it was just a few people with a DV camera they were willing to let us shoot in a wood for free. Of course we did have to put up with passers-by stopping to watch the fight scenes as they took their dogs for walks :).
Otherwise I'm sure the Forestry Commission have a program for low-budget movies, I know someone who shot a short in one of their woods a couple of years back and certainly didn't pay them that much.
Thanks Mark, I will try some more woods and see what responses i get?:)?
